Engine Start

Anyone have this experience? I cant always start the engine from P and have to shift to N for my 2001 Boxster tiptronic. I have this problem on-and-off since 2 weeks ago.
Is this an engine problem, ignition, or battery??

Any idea, how much would cost to fix it? and is this an urgent problem

Thanks for your idea first.

The Linkage for the Shifter is dirty, gunked-up and needs adjustment. It won't enageg the interlock switches which allow you to engage the starter. It is a Dealer Service. Mine ran me $168 2 years ago and the problem has not reoccurred. Hope this helps...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
