Best price for litronics

I'm adding some litronics to my Christmas list and need to include the name of a place where to get them. Anyone have an idea on the best price? I see them anywhere from $1400-$1900. I know I've seen them for around $1200 or so, but can't find that anywhere now.

Thanks,
David

Ebay is the only way to go if you want litronics for under a grand. Ask on the classifieds on the board, Just put WTB litronics.

I'm looking to get a new set. I would rather spend a few hundred more and get some that are brand new rather than a used set from ebay.

Thanks,
David

Thumbs up

excellent move -- to me, Litronics are one of the best things to ad to your Box if it didn't come with them.

It's hard to find them brand new for less than $1400 now. You can get them used for around $900-1000 on Ebay or if someone is selling their 986 and wants to unload the Litronics before turning in.

I love the litronics. Make sure you have them aimed right after installing, and you'll notice a huge difference.

Send a message via AIM to djomlas
well as soon as u put them on ur car they are used.

IMO, if going the ebay route, just request larger resolution pics, and ask for any cratches/damage, but usually there isnt be that many, and u can always polish them up to like new condition and save a few hundred bux and spend on something else. i dunno, gas money? hehehe

good luck with tracking a set man

If you buy litronics off eBay, be sure to look at recent feedback given to the seller... if you see a lot of red (negative feedback) heed the warning from others.

you missed a great set that went on ebay last night. i think the final price was $960.00...used but. they were in mint condition. but you had to buy the harness kit to do the high beam install, which is about from what i see on sunset porsches website $350.00.

wait for a group buy.
I got my set for $1100 on the Porsche Pete's Boxster Board Group Buy through Brandywine Porsche. The light's came in the biggest boxes I have ever seen come UPS. I thought they were sending me cruise missiles.

Don't buy used Litronics. Only sell used litronics.

I purchased my litronics through the same group buy. I believe they gave me a deal on the side clears as well. I had forgotten about that HUGE box...

I think I will be doing the entire front end mod that uses the 02-05 996 lights. I've never seen a group buy on those since most of the 996s from those years already had litronics.

I'm just working on pricing out all the parts I need to do the mod. If I have to buy lights, might as well upgrade the bumper and fenders at the same time.

I've thought long and hard about upgrading the entire car, but I've come to realize that I really enjoy driving this one. I've thought about a Cayman or a 997, but decided to maybe get one of those is a year or two. Until then, mod the hell out of my Boxster.

That's gonna look sweet. Please post pics when complete, and if you don't mind, the pricing for the conversion.

Hey David J,

There was a set of 996 Turbo lights that you are looking for on ebay the other day. brand new really cheap. $500 each. Try and locate them, you can save alot of money.

^ yeah that's interesting I've noticed the nicer looking 'face lifted' 02-04 911 headlights are often cheaper than our Litronics.

If you are going to go with this BIG expense($5-7K) I would suggest making it a GT2 or GT3 face lift and not just the standard 02-04 911 face lift. The show and tell has a good example. I would also switch to the 03 rear bumper because it will even things out, the pre-03 Boxster rear is subtle and a facelift makes the front end very busy.

If you plan to keep the car 10+ years its a great idea.
p.s.
don't skimp on the paint.

well if money is no object.....

then what you really should do is the 997 conversion. same ordeal, lights, fenders, front bumper. probably the real expense would be sourcing the lights.

I've looked at the 997 conversion kit. It's about 6500 just for parts. But that is also the carbor kevlar kit, not a fiberglass one. I figure this car will be my project car that I keep around for awhile (3+ years). Now that's not normal for me. In the past 18 years of my life as a licensed drivers, I have had 15 different cars. That's an average of 1.2 years per car. This car will be something I can keep and take to car shows and also to the track.

I know a guy that owns a body shop who is an excellent painter. He owns a 997 that he has done work on and it looks great. He has painted parts for my friend who has the 996 with the RSR kit on it.

If I do the 996 conversion, I would most likely go with the GT3 bumper. Both my wife and I seem to agree on that one.

997 Conversion?
why would anyone pay $7,000 to have their beautiful concept car inspired Boxster look like a VW bug.

p.s.
The 996 was an adaptation of the Boxster. Both the front end and interior. The design was soooo good and after careful consideration speaking with the Japanese assembly line experts, they decided to make the 911's look like the hit Boxster design.
The 93 concept Boxster was put out for sale in Europe in 1996. The 996 911 didn't make its way to states until 1999. So yeah the 911 is a copy cat and the Boxster is cooler.

p.s.
I prefer the GT2 because the GT3 front bumper (MK2) looks a bit too similar to the pre- facelift 911, which is often confused for the Boxster (MK1) aero front bumper.
There's no confusing the GT2 front end with a Boxster. Something to consider..
