Wow...I would really like to find this under the tree.

i like the wheels and front bumper...that color is awesome

Arnt they the 997 Turbo rims?????
|
hotness!
i want one! :D |
I like it, as I like all 911s, but it does weigh a couple hundred pounds more, and is slightly slower than other 911s.
Kind of makes me feel like the um...roofiness doesn't justify the fatness & slowness :( Well, it does, but in my mind it doesn't lol. I saw one at the dealer where I bought my car and I got in and started playing around. They are kind of pricey, though... |
That does not look like a near $100K car. Headlights still look out of place for such a well performing car, kind of fem. Hopefully this retro headlight thing will
be phased out soon and they'll give the 911 a front end design unique only to Porsche and not shared with VW's bugs. And this car really is not a Targa anymore its just a XL sunroof. It's got to pyhysically detach from the top to warrant a Targa label. (Unless you can jump into the drivers seat to win the race when the bil ole' sunroof is open) |
i dont see where targa comes in, its just big sunroof.
i really dont mind the headlights tho, gives it a retro styling look, but i dunno if the whole retro thing is still workingout or not, but in general i like it if the $ wasnt a problem. |
I don't mind the styling because porsches are very aerodynamic, so I feel the design is good for that reason.
You're right, though, for a 12k premium over a regular carrera, the roof isn't THAT big, and I'm being honest. Seen these things in person. It's really nothing to cheer about. I like the idea, but doesn't justify the price. |
I think its beautiful.
|
I don't mind retro...as long as it doesn't look like a $15K car that only chicks buy.
Have you ever seen the brochure for a VW bug? It's 100% geared towards a woman buyer, I think there are even flowers on the dash! The new 911 looks like a higher powereed VW bug sports coupe model. I'm not sure I could confuse a 993 with a VW bug in the same way I think the 997 and the VW looks similar today. I think someone posted pics of some VW's bugs with Porsche wheels and they didn't even look that out of place. Something is wrong with that... |
Yeah...I try not to think about that.
My friend says the gt3 looks exactly like a bug. Kind of makes me mad. But think of it like this: If bugs didn't exist, would you still think your porsche didn't look good? |
the 987 has a tear drop which is somewhat CarreraGT-esque.
THe 911 is just full on round, those lights are like Michael Richards aka Kramer, no matter how hard you try you will always see a lunatic/VW bug. |
I know I'm a really bad photographer and can't hold the camera straight but here's some pics I took of it when I picked up my car.
http://img362.imageshack.us/img362/4292/targa41rr4.jpg http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/3997/targa42kn2.jpg Looks the same as the OP's. So yeah the top doesn't open that much really...I dunno, that's just for looks. How about how it feels? I think that's more important. |
That color on that car spells: S-P-E-E-D-I-N-G T-I-C-K-E-T
|
I still love it but too pricey for me :barf:
|
I love it! Love the wheels and of course the targa. Definately better than the 911 cab!
|
I think it's a good looking car, but I must agree with Perfectlap, the top is just a big sunroof. Porsche needs to bring back the classic Targa.
Also, I must concur that it looks a lot like a Bug. I was watching onboard track footage of an Enzo. He was coming up on a car and I thought, "what is a bug doing out there." It was a 997...... which promptly got passed. :( |
Where does the big ole sunroof go when opened? Is it essentially two rear windows when it's retracted? The new Targa seems more practical for me. I don't the idea of getting out, taking the top off and then storing it. I wouldn't mind a Cayman Targa.

i really dont think it looks anything like a bug
