Installing fuel pump

Is this idiot proof? By that I mean; given the pattern of the tabs, can the pump go in incorrectly relative to the sending unit installation?

I have done the fuel pump thing a couple of times and my recollection is that the indexing of the pump is guided by hoses and wiring. More or less idiot proof.

I have replaced the in tank fuel pump twice but not on a Porsche (Volvo..)

And the only think I could add as a recommendation, is to lube with silicon grease the large O ring that goes between the tank lid and the fuel pump assembly as the first time, I failed to do it and got a lot of fuel fumes so I had to do it again..

Take a sharpie and make a mark on your current pump, ring and body before removal. Line up on install and You're all set!

someone continues making better idiots...
