2000 Boxster

When I open my door without the key in the ignition it starts dinging like the key is still in. I replaced the ignition switch “pain in the butt”. Also my key fob won’t work. Has anyone else run into this problem?

It's before 5A...

You can't just join the forum and in your first communication throw out some rando inquiry without describing what you're driving. This isn't a Chevy forum. Etiquette, man.

So... tell us what you're driving.

Tell us if the beeping ever goes off, and under what conditions.

What happens when you put in the key, and start the car. Beeping?

Details, man. Details. Lets get that annoying beepng under control.

2000 Boxster issues

Starter986,

My apologies for not listing my car when I posted for the first time on this thread. I have a 2000 Boxster S with 57,000 miles.

I was having issues with my ignition switch and replaced it with a part from Pelican Parts.

Since I replaced the ignition switch, the issue is when I lift the door handle on the driverside door, the interior lights come on, and it starts dinging like the key is in the ignition, but it's not. When I put the key in, it stops.

I spoke with a local mechanic who has dealt with this issue before, and his suggestion was to remove the newly installed ignition switch and reseat it. Not an easy task for a big guy. The ignition switch was reseated. I'm happy to say all systems are working properly.
