Had to replace the rear bumper cover on my ‘03 S. Found this outfit in Colorado called
“Painted OEM” that painted a new Porsche part the factory Seal Grey and shipped it to me in Oregon for a total of $1,475. The paint quality and color match is excellent. They explain their paint process on the website and had invariable 5 Star reviews, so I took a chance. They guarantee satisfaction. You may be able to do it for less, but I couldn’t source any undamaged used on EBay or anywhere else. It would have been $1,150 just to have the new, primed, unpainted cover shipped to me from Sunset Porsche in Portland. Then I’d have had to figure out who could do a good job painting it locally for $325? Didn’t seem likely. Anyway, it was easy, and I am extremely satisfied.
I had to drill out the rivets on the 2 piece metal reinforcements on the lower vent openings left and right and the heat shield piece above the muffler outlets, and re-rivet them onto the new bumper. The metal pieces were bent on the side I wrecked, but I was able to re-form them with some careful plier, hammer and anvil work. The left side plastic fender well/heat shield combo piece was trashed, and I got a used one off EBay for $85. $265 or so for the same part new from the dealer.
Collected $2,100 from my insurance company and fixed it myself for a total of $1,560.
