Seat "dent"

Well..'kink' I suppose, a little dented in spot in the leather of the seat. I noticed when I bought my 2000 S it had it on just the driver's side, on the lower piece right under the driver's butt, under the right butt-cheek. I realized I wasn't alone with this when I saw it also in JCTPM's Boxster here:

Could anyone explain what seems to cause this? It's apparently something common becuase two different Boxsters have almost the exact same looking mark. Is there some popular wallet or back-pocket device that might have dug this hole?
