Seat "dent"
Well..'kink' I suppose, a little dented in spot in the leather of the seat. I noticed when I bought my 2000 S it had it on just the driver's side, on the lower piece right under the driver's butt, under the right butt-cheek. I realized I wasn't alone with this when I saw it also in JCTPM's Boxster here:
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g269/JCTPM/Boxster024.jpg Could anyone explain what seems to cause this? It's apparently something common becuase two different Boxsters have almost the exact same looking mark. Is there some popular wallet or back-pocket device that might have dug this hole? -David |
Interesting. The car on the pic is a Tiptronic. Could it be that the right leg carries less body + leg weight onto the floor (exerting higher load onto the right butt side) than the left leg? Since the left leg is rested on the floor, its weight doesn't put as much load on the left side of the butt. This would be also valid for manual shifter cars as the right leg still does more work than the left one, especially for mostly highway driving without too much shifting when the left leg can be rested on the floor. Just a hypothesis.

My guess would be the driver carrying a wallet or something else bulky in the right hand rear pants pocket. I've never carried anything in my back pockets so I don't have any marks or dents in my seats.
