Brake Damper Questions

I'm new to brake dampers. I bought some Brembo rear pads and they did not come with the metal plates. The plate on my existing pads are completely seized on the pads. I can't re-use them. I called Pelican to order plates and they recommended Brake Pad Dampers.

Do I use Brake grease on dampers?

Do the dampers have adhesive on them? They appear to have a cardboard covering.

I found an old thread from another forum indicating to install brake dampers dry. (they do have adhesive)

My set up -
Brembo brake pads
Sebro disks
OEM brake dampers
OEM sensors

If you can get the dampers off, you can clean them up and reuse them. Buy some scrap sheets of 3M 468MP Adhesive Transfer Tape on Amazon or eBay, apply it where the old adhesive was on the dampers and they are good to go. I learned that from a post on Rennlist and did it a couple of times when I had my 2003 Boxster S.

Thanks for the tip - I used dampers because I wasn't able to re-use or order metal brake pad plates. My brake pads did not come with them.

Replaced front and rears last week. It had been years waiting for the pad sensor light to come on... it didn't... my mechanic told me I needed brakes when he was installing a control arm.

Anyhow... the pads wouldn't come out. Did some research upon these pages... got a paint spatula... squeezed it in between the damper and the back of the pad... wrested it... peeled off the damper... pad came out.

Tossed the dampers. Little grease. Popped in the new pads, all around. Been working great since.
