I’m doin a bunch of interior refresh & in the process of getting new speaker drivers for the front dash that’s shot I found a good deal & got new ones for the doors also. Contagion ensued & I then decided to get a new head unit for all the usual reasons.
I haven’t begun tearing out the old and installing yet , but If I understand correctly the rear box will be incompatible with my new head unit due to the most fiber optic. Is this true? Has anyone tried putting new drivers/crossovers into the Bose box to make a useful speaker or sub out of it? Seems like it would be a good option & keep the factory look. On the other hand, the woofers fire down into the carpet so not ideal for rear speakers. So maybe a sub, but ported/vented subs are not easy to Frankenstein-tune. Maybe internally blocking off the port & making it into a sealed sub?
The other option is to sell it & have a small shelf area back there, but I don’t care for clutter.
Anyone have any advice, experience or thoughts on the issue?
