Did I buy the wrong clutch?

Just bought a clutch and pressure plate from someone who found it in the trunk of a parts car he bought. Looks basically new and came with the pressure plate and throw out bearing.

However last minute he mentioned that it was for an 986 S.

I have a 986 base model. It looks the EXACT same from all pictures, is there a major difference between the 986 S/base model clutch/pressure plate?

(I have a 2001)

The splines on the transmission shaft are not the same. It is too late to have a look in the garage, but I can tomorrow. I am currently running a 2.7 engine in a 2000 S, but I have the S clutch to go with the 6-speed transmission.

If you have a spare base clutch in good condition I’d happily trade!

I do have a spare, but it is still installed in a car (I already bought a new clutch plate that I have yet to install). You should be able to easily sell the S clutch.
