Boy...how a few simple changes really update the car...

Before: My 986 with the old amber tail lights, bare plastic bumperettes, and oem single oval tail pipe exhaust:

After: With clear tail lights, painted bumperettes, and dansk sports exhaust:

Before: Front shot with bicycle reflector-style amber :D in the headlight lenses:

After: Front shot with clear litronic headlights:

Pro: Car doesn't look like it's dated from the 80's now. :D
Con: I had to pay for these friggen updates when the car shoulda come that way in the first place!

cool...like the exhaust, maybe I'll do that to my 05....the single pipe is kind of blah

i have absolutely no problem with single tip, on mine i have a tequipment tip that makes it look realllly big comparet to stock one.

IMO, the techquipment tip is a slight improvement, but if you look close, you can still see the regular tailpipe recessed behind it, and then you can tell it is just a tip slid over the original one. The other advantage of changing the exhaust, of course, is the improved throaty roar over the silent stock unit. ;)

of course, but thats much more expencive than the tip :)

dont get me wrong, ill take ur exhaust over mine anytime hehehe

I find nothing silent about my exhaust over 3.5k RPM. :D

You can get used sports exhausts on fleabay for around $400 bucks....only a bit more than a tequipment tip's retail, and it will give you a grin every time you rev that thing over 4K rpms. The tequipment tips are not cheap. Don't get me wrong, the OEM exhaust is ok sounding, but pretty tame for a sports car imo.

I revved my car today when I drove off from my Manhattan garage, and it scared a little girl and her mother who were standing behind me. :D

Sweet ride Boxaboy, what's involved with deampering the front lights, do you have to replace the whole headlight assemly?

Ed

Thanks Ed. Yeah...unfortunately, you have to buy new lights to get rid of that amber. Either the clear halogen headlights (offered on the 03+ Boxsters or 99-00 Carrera), or the Litronic Xenons which come with clear lenses.

To fully deamber the pre-03 cars: (w/ OEM factory clear lights)
Clear side markers = about $40
Clear tail lights = about $160
Clear halogen headlights = new $900 / used $500
Clear Litronic xenons = new $1500 / used $900

You also can sell your old amber headlights/side markers/tail lights to recoup a portion of the amount you outlay for the clears.

Cheers.

Nice

Sexy changes dude, especially the DANSK exhaust. I'm planning on the same mods, plus some engine work to bring my HP from 217 to 240. Can't wait!

Haha...nope- you need a mean look here in NYC to keep folks from messin with ya. ;)

The thing I personally find annoying about the ambers is that they break up the clean lines of the rear fender line. Here's a pic of one of my pal's Silver boxster, and you can see how the amber kind of ruins the flowing lines of the rear fender. Makes the rear look more stubby.

Here, the cleaner, smoother look without the amber which makes the quarterpanel look more tapered and flowing (same angle shot):
