Vinyl to "fix" the headlights?

Has anyone tried to replicate the "classic" Porsche headlight look by using color matched vinyl on the headlights in an attempt to resolve the fried egg look?

J did it. I did too. I think the are pics on my build thread here. The trick is to find the matching color wrap. I trimmed out the main light in chrome with mini cooper bezels. They fit perfectly. Note though that by doing this you lose your front turn signal, unless you rewire that signal to the running lamp in the main headlight.

Here they are. J is correct. They have little tags on the back that need to be ground down but they are nearly perfect fit in contour and size. I attached it with vhb and they have held without problem (even at 135mph) for a year now.

Thanks! The hardest part is finding the vinyl to match, then it's pretty easy from there.
