Motor Trend used the following technique when "gunning" the 987S for it's AMG SLK55 comparo:
"Rev the high-winding six to around 5000 rpm, feather-dump the clutch."
They turned in the fastest published times I've seen for the 3.2 987S:
0-60 - 5.0
0-100 - 12.8
1/4 - 13.4 @103.9
Car and Driver's comment, when testing the 987 base vs. the Solstice was:
"If you’re willing to subject your 240-hp Boxster to a high-rpm clutch drop and ride out the ensuing axle hop, it’ll reach 60 mph in 5.7 seconds and the quarter-mile in 14.3. "
