funny thing blink, I was just telling him on the way to lunch how I was really debating getting a new S, only problem is that it looks really no different than my base....I'll just have to wait untill they make some kind of changes to the interior so there is a little more difference in the cars visually.....
I autocross on a regular basis and I've been working on my launches at every event. I have found that going to 2500 RPM and agressively letting the clutch out (DO NOT DROP THE CLUTCH!!!) works the best. If I get to 3000 RPM I usually spin the tires excessively and it slows my launch, wears out the tires, and can't be good on the powertrain (it warms up the tires a little but not enough to warrant the damage I could do to the rest of the car). The idea is to launch your car without excessive damage to your clutch so the idea is not to drop it and potentially damage the powertrain, nor is it good to slip your clutch and wear it out. There's a fine line when trying to take off fast.

BTW - I have a 2002 S.
