I’m assuming there’s a micro switch that’s dirty or going. Can someone tell me how I can diagnose/fix?
Unlatch the top. Insert your finger into the hole where the hook goes into. If you press on the tab you should hear two audible clicks corresponding to two separate switches. The second click is responsible for telling the top control unit that the top is closed, permitting closing the windows. If you can`t hear the second click, probably the switch is broken. If you hold the tab in the upper position and now you can roll up your windows the hook does not press on the tab enough to operate the switch in the closed position, you might need some adjustment or replacement. Note that this is for the early Boxsters, the newer ones have one switch only if I`m not mistaken.
