Just sharing some information in regards to door lock actuator replacement

My 2000 Boxster developed the dreaded micro switch failure which caused me to be unable to lock the car and produced the dreaded double beep. I grabbed a known good door lock actuator from another 2000 Boxster, but it didn't quite work out. The lock I got was from a Canada/USA car, but my car is a ROW car so it had the "Secure" AKA "Safe" function which the Canada/USA lock didn't have. I was able to lock the car but it would beep on unlock letting me know something was wrong.

I ended up using the 8N1837016B from an Audi TT rather than trying to source the ROW part, and it worked perfectly.

I imagine it would also work perfectly for the Canada/USA cars but I can't say for sure.

Appreciate the information. I'll keep this in mind if/when mine fails.

How did you find out the TT part works?

What is this "Secure" AKA "Safe" function?

Also, what is the part number on the actuator you removed?

8N1837015B returns "not found" at Audi parts site.

Typo?

Whoops it was 8N1837016B which I think has been superceeded by 8N1837016C now.
