2004 dash with glove box in 1999
Will a dash with glove compartment from a 2004 fit in a 1999? I know I've seen this answered before but, will it work or is there a bar in the way?

And possibly in the way is the old airduct for the side vent. They had to remodel that IIRC.
I used that very limited space there for my mini subwoofer.

Hmm. Well I got the dash at a great price and I may be buying a silver 1999 today. Problem is it has the grey interior which I don't love. So I have already black seats, door panels and dash. I think I can get a black carpet. Maybe I'll leave the dash grey and change some of the other parts and see how it looks. I probably won't like the mismatched look though. Even though the dash is a pain to change it give me something to do on a weekend. I wonder if I can get that different knee bar from somewhere? Woody you don't happen to have one do you?

Have the dash recovered, much simpler....or, wait for a car that is the colors you want. Way too much work for only getting a glove box. This is no easy task you are wanting to do. It's easier to replace the top then it is to swap in a different type of dash.
And it will be more then a weekends work too

I recommend that you contact the member that initiated these threads and ask whether he succeeded. You might also ask if he thought the result was worth the time he invested.

Sorry I'm down to only one parts car and it's a 2001. I've taken quite a few dashes out. It's not hard, just time consuming. I'm guessing I could switch one out in a weekend. The biggest tip I have is to take your time with removing the actual dash. There always seems to be a screw you forgot to remove. Pull slowly. If the dash is holding up, then you probably forgot to remove a screw where it's holding up. There's some hidden ones

I'm getting ready to swap the dash on my 2000 Boxster based on Woody telling me the above and my Indy mechanic also saying that it's not difficult, just time consuming.
I found a couple of YouTube videos that look to be of great help in finding the hidden screws. I've had all the "ancillary" pieces off before; vents, center stack, instrument pod, etc. Watching the videos, it doesn't look like the demon that folks make it out to be.
One thing you may want to do is fix the "blowing foam" issues while you have the dash out of the car - I know I'm going to.

Thanks for the info Woody. I'm not too worried about changing the dash out. I've had about everything out of the interior of my current car before, everything except the actual dash. But everything else was removed when I dyed the dash. I had to take out all the trim around the windshield and around the dash. I took off the gauge cluster, the center where the radio is, the airbag and even the little trims across the dash. At that point I should have just took the actual dash out.
