Boxster S Shift cables

Need help:
I have a 2002 Boxster S 6 speed. I installed new shift cables but I am unclear how to adjust them. I purchased the green plastic tool that clips on the shifter, but it will not fit mine. Guessing it is for a 5 speed. All the videos I find online are for 5 speeds also.

Is there a part # for a different tool?
Any help here is appreciated

shifter

I realize now that the car has a short shifter in it. So I took out the old cables without marking them thinking I would use the tool. Any ideas on how to adjust the cables from scratch on a short shifter?

Not sure it'll help you but I've done two short shifter kits on two different P-cars with 6 speed transmissions. I didn't have the alignment tool yet found no need to adjust cables.

Put the transmission in neutral.
Put the shift handle in the neutral position.
Connect the cables with as little slack as possible..
That is what I did when I installed my short shifter.
Never had any issues with it setup that way.

Hi, not sure if you're still searching this down. I purchased Porsche Factory Tool 9468 from ebay and that was what I used when I adjusted my cables. That said, as stated by others, I don't recall much adjustment being needed, if any. Hope that helps.
