loud whine from front of car

Happy new year everyone!

My '98 986 has developed a whine that is distinctly coming from the front of the car especially audible near either front tire.

It does not change pitch but it has become louder over the past few days.

Is this a fuel pump failing?

Are you having any issues fueling up?

No, no issues when fueling up. No hesitation that you would think would be a fuel line problem.

I started it up briefly today after it sat overnight and the noise was gone.

It seems that it is most noticeable when the car is hot.

Got a leaf stuck in a cooling fan? Does it whine only when the cooling fans are on?

I had a horrible whine that was finally narrowed down to the front right. You can pull the fuses for the fans and see if it goes away. Not a horrible DIY job.

What was the problem and solution? Did you replace the radiator fan?

Sometimes the loud whining in the front comes from your wife who is the passenger.

Just sayin' lol
