For seat removal from the car.

I just came across a 4-year-old email correspondence I had with somebody from this thread that had done the L seat transplant previously. He said to be sure not to try to start the car when you have either one of the seats out. If you do, he said, it trips the airbag warning light, and you have to go to the dealer to get it reset. I discovered this email an hour or two AFTER I started the car and put it back in the garage. Whoops. I won't know for sure if he is correct because my airbag light was already on from my last window regulator replacement and I hadn't sorted that out yet..

Has anybody had that experience? And if so, is there a hack for resetting the light oneself, or with a code reader from an auto parts store? (Local dealer is not very nice.)

There are no instructions or recommendations with the covers, something that Lseat could improve.

I emailed the Lseat people last week and asked about instructions or videos and they sent me this as a PDF (converted here to a JPG).

The instructions are marginally helpful. Somebody who has called the company told me they have one English speaker there.

Tne note about care of the seatcovers is:

Use of mild soap and a slightly damp sponge to clean light soil, and the use of a good genuine leather conditioner/cleaner is recommended. Your local auto parts store carries a variety of them.

If you disconnect the battery 1st you wont get the airbag light. Many discussions here & any car forum. ALWAYS disconnect the battery before doing anything that is possibly connected to an airbag system.

Actually...ALWAYS disconnect the battery 1st before doing any work. It is the 1st thing that any mechanic is ever taught.

Durametric will also clear the airbag light. Talk to your local PCA club chances are they or a member have one or a pwis that you can borrow or take to them to clear the airbag light.

Thanks. Lesson learned.

After a couple of months of use and some sunny weather the wrinkles have diminished somewhat, there are still some on the headrest just above the seat back insert... but less then before. I will report back as the summer progresses.

A year later and almost all the wrinkles are gone. I will post some pictures when I get time and nice day when I can lower the top for better camera angles.
