I had a set of ultra light autocross wheels and I sprayed some orange citrus degreaser type stuff on them from Pepboys or similar. Worked great except it stripped part of the clear coat right off and a few days later I had tiny rust pin holes.
I've mostly used two products the ultra safe p21s with a sponge and hose
and Poorboys wheel cleaner which is very potent spray on rinse off immediately. Might work well on mesh type wheels instead of dealing with a spoke brush.

Chemical Guys is a very popular brand for the pros who look for good quality in larger quantities and lower prices.
