Can you Dye door panel's

I am considering dying my door panel's and dash board to the more natural brown color instead of the light beige I have now, I know its risky, and a point of no return if I did, But will it hold up over time..?? Thanks Frank

Short answer...yes there are sprays and dyes that you can use.

Longevity for using aerosols to spray panels is questionable...I would say that prep is key for the product to bond with the vinyl, but I have not seen any that really last. For a convertible that gets a lot of damaging sun rays, I'm not sure it would be very good.

Leatherique has very good products for leather/vinyl seat repair and re-dying - if I was to try and dye panels and seats myself...that would be the product I'd try. There's lots of successful results I've seen from DIY'ers....the 944 and 911 guys have many projects posted over the years for seat and interior re-virginization.

Problem with re-dying is if you scuff the panel, the lighter base may show through if the dye didn't really bite in to the material.

Finding replacement panels in the colour you want is likely the best but toughest option, as locating the panels in decent shape in the colour you want is probably like finding a needle in a haystack.

Recovering is another option, although the most expensive. However it would give the best results.

This is a tough project to take on, but fun at the same time.

Good luck sir, post your pics.

If you're looking for Natural Brown, depending on the year of your car, this is what I'd do.

I'm tempted to buy these and just stash them away for the right project. You won't find another set of these anytime soon...

Edit: there's a good chunk of of the interior here that will swap into a Boxster. Just make sure the years between cars match. Natural Brown with black carpeting is a sweet combination. I've seen it before.

This is what I'm doing now is swapping a 996 leather interior into a vinyl interior Boxster. Not difficult. Just time consuming.

And here's your seats - https://www.ebay.com/itm/174821429840

So we have dash, door cards, seats and some misc pieces. You're almost there.

You only live once and it's only money. You can always earn some more.

To each his own, I would only caution you on the color and potential resale value further down the road. Brown & Porsche seem to go hand in hand....back in the 80's. Look at a lot of the early 80's 911 & 944's and they are mostly brown interior.

Dying everything is an option, just dont expect it to last that long.

Savannah (top) and Natural Brown (bottom).

They door cards, dash and other pieces are listed in the eBay auction as Natural Brown along w/ the correct interior color code T11

The Sport Seats, listed by a different vendor are also Natural Brown.

Different monitors may show the colors different.
