Pulling the engine cover off wont be too hard, but i think that lining it back up to get those first few bolts in might be a challenge. If its just a timing belt you could probably do it one handed, just torque the tensioner down and hold it with your leg while removing/replacing the belt. A helper would be ideal though.

That sucks about the stroke. Life is a cruel mistress. At lest youre still able to drive though.

Timing belt can give a smell ? I was thinking serpentine belt.
