Potential Nightmare Scenario

Ok, well, thanks to all of you who gave me freed back in my RUROH post about rats chewing up my wiring. I followed you advice, brought over a friend, retired and heat wrapped what we could. Some of the codes were above my pay grade so I had the rest of the work completed at the most reputable Porsche mechanic in Austin. They have done all of my work and are fantastic. Now the nightmare.
While the car was parked, another Porsche customer backed into my car with his Avalanche and pushed in my rear, driver’s side quarter panel. Ok, no biggie, he called me, gave me his insurance and, 2 months later, I finally got my car into a Porsche certified auto body shop. While the manager was doing a vehicle check, he said “ Don’t be surprised if they total your car.” WTF? My 2002 Boxster has less than 43k miles, upgraded brakes, exhaust, new LN IMS bearing and kit, yada, yada. While I hope this doesn’t happen, I would be shocked if the repair we really that much.
Does anyone in the forum have experience with this? The thought of the insurance company writing me a check, fixing the car and then selling it n this market makes me sick to my stomach.
I will try linking some pics.
