Question Boxster turned over with odd noises coming from engine

Hopped in my 99 986 this morning, as I turned over the engine very odd noises started coming from the engine, I turned the ignition off and on again with no change in noises that came from the engine, if someone could please help me out and guide me in the right direction to the issue at hand that would be very helpful.

Hard to tell what it could be from just a video, but I would begin by removing the accessory belt and starting the engine for about 10 seconds, but not more than 30 seconds or so as the water pump will not be running.

If the noise is not there, then it's a pulley or one of your accessories. If the sound is still there, then the noise points to a more serious internal engine problem.

Yea its hard to tell in the video but I can hear a little bit of an unusual sound. Take the access panels off and see if you can pin point it. Could be a pulley, alt, water pump, etc that froze. Hopefully its not internal.

Did the check engine light come on?

Like others have said. Get the carpet, top cover & front cover off and then do a new video. This time though post it on youtube, that way it doesn't eat into your space on google drive.

You haven't done any work to it recently have you? Maybe forget a tool?

Does this car have a manual transmission or an automatic.?????
If it is a manual, push the clutch pedal in and see if it changes the sound.
When was the last time you started the car???
Did you hear anything unusual the last time you started it??
Did everything right the last time you drove the car??
