phone mount

This has come up a bunch of times so I figured I would share. Came across this little thing last night.

https://www.amazon.com/Leather-Compatible-Porsche-1999-2004-1997-2004/dp/B07PH18VG5/ref=sr_1_32?dchild=1&keywords=kuda+986&qid=1627061024&sr=8-32

It looks to me like a blank surface to which you can then hard mount a phone holder of your choice.

Im not affiliated and I have no idea what the quality it, just wanted to share.

Those Kuda mounts been around for a long time, they are just kind of a bulky and expensive. I opted for the ProClip that mounts in the same place, but isn't as tall. I also purchased a used center console panel to mount it too because even though they say it just clips over the trim panel, it will definitely leave noticeable indentations/damage on the trim panel if you ever remove it. I didn't want to damage my original leather wrapped one. It's a great location for the phone though.

We have one of the KUDA mounts in the wife's S8. It looks great and was expensive for what it is. I agree the KUDA might be a bit bulky in a 986.
I've got a Rennline phone mount in my 986. I think it's very similar to rick3000's mount. The position is nice, it works well and the mount is small and unobtrusive.

Phone mount

How strong is the magnet on The Rennline Mount? I have been considering that one, but have not had good luck with previous magnetic mounts. Phone in a rubber case never seemed to stay in place because magnets were not strong enough. I am not referring to it dislodging over big bumps, but just sliding around on the mount from normal driving. Does The Rennline solve that problem?

I've been using the Rennline mount for about 3 years. I've never had my phone slide off the mount or come lose from from any kind of road shock.
The magnet is part of the mounting bracket that is attached to the center console. Rennline supplys a thin metal plate that is attached to the back (outside) of my phone case with what appears to be 3M trim tape.

Has anyone tried the rennline induction charger? I'm debating going that or with proclips. Thanks!

I took apart a phone mount and unscrewed the round magnetic piece, wrapped the threads with electrical tape and it fit perfectly into the cigarette lighter slot.

Rennline for the win. The now have a GT3 delete one that puts the mount up near the vent. Never lost my phone yet.

I posted this in another thread, I used the Rennline lower mount and an Amazon wireless charger that happens to fit the Rennline ball mount perfectly.
