Engine Cooling Question

I had this question a while ago when I bought my '98 Boxster, but forgot it until a recent post reminded me. The guy I bought the car from used to put a box fan on wheels under the engine when he parked it in the garage after a drive. I never asked him why, but I'm curious, is there something wrong with letting the engine cool naturally, or does rolling the fan under the engine have a demonstrable benefit?

A Boxster is no different then any other car in respects to you question.
Perhaps the previous owner did that to help drive heat out of the garage.
I sometimes leave the garage door open and place a box fan or two near the Boxster after a run.
But it is to drive the heat out of the attached garage and help keep the house cool.
Does nothing to benefit the car.

There are lots of people who have some strange believes in regards to these cars.

They are just an automobile nothing special or different then almost any other make of automobile out there. Most of the "technology" on them is over 100 years old and used in all modern day gas powered automobiles.

you can turn on the engine compartment fan for some benefit. It is built in....just don't kill your battery

you will need to wire up it for manual operation

When I go to any Corvette gathering, cars pull in and the hoods go up, not to show off the engine, but for cooling. Especially engines that run warm.
