Now that you've gotten all that whining out of your system, it's time to order the glass top! If we plastic top owners cannot live vicariously through you, a glass top replacement forum member, what will we have to live for anyway?

What are your reservations beyond the 350 dollar difference in price? Install rates are the same.

Edit: I came back to this post fifteen minutes later after I thought about it a little. If I were replacing my top today with a glass top, I would definitely go with the GAHH top which is a lot more money, and have one of their official installers do the work so it would be fully insured against bunching, the surround coming away from the glass, etc. They've been very responsive to replacing tops for free (they reimburse the installer) and if I bought even the same top from eBay and had my mechanic install it, there would be no warranty on the top or the way it acted a couple of months down the road.

So, I still think you should go with a glass top, but not a cheap one!

Options for Soft Top with Glass Replacement

I don't want to beat a dead horse or anything. I've seen posts about replacing the soft top with the plastic window but couldn't quite gather all the info I wanted.

For a couple of months I've been getting a bad fold in the plastic window on my top. Today it finally gave and I have a small crack that I'm sure within a few weeks will grow in size. I'm looking at a couple of months before I have to replace it. I refuse to duct tape it. I'm not interested in sewing in new plastic or replacing the whole top with another plastic window top only to have it last another year or so. My box is a daily driver and I put the top down nearly every day I can.

So best top for the price? So far I've found some on Ebay for around $695 that include the defroster kits from topsonline.com
Is this the best deal around? Is it a good top? Anyone have one installed that can vouche?

And last, does anyone know of a place they would trust in Austin to get it installed. I've read enough posts to see that it looks like a difficult install. Beyond my skills (and toolset) anyhow. Any idea what kinda cash I'm looking at for labor?
