What am I worth

A few years ago I helped a friend find a good boxster. We found a great low mileage 2003 standard at Nuccio Auto Group in Addison,IL. They specialize in low mileage sports and exotics. Great place. She now is moving into a retirement building and only has one parking area so is going to part with "Stella".
It has 27,900 miles. In October 2019 she had the IMS done also replaced coils and plugs and installed new R17 Michelin Pilot Sports. Mileage then was 26,751.

This car is immaculate and runs like a top.

249 Tiptronic S
342 Heated Front Seats
394 17" Boxster S II Wheels
424 CD Shelf Center Console
446 Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
454 Cruise Control
476 Porsche Stability Management
535 Remote Control Alarm System
659 On Board Computer
AA Black Standard Leather
M6A Black Mats - Porsche lettering
P73 Bose (Digital) W/Windstop
V9 Black Top
X1 Arctic Silver Metallic

Does $20,000 sound like a fair price? Not sure how to go about selling it. Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Doug

Well, it's always worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

My opinion...I wouldn't more more then $10k for it. Too few of miles and once it is started to be driven regularly, this are going to start breaking. Realistically, you could prob get $15k easily. Might be best to try BAT and facebook market.

Keep in mind at $20k you are getting to the price range of a 996. While it is a sellers market and prices are higher now they have been in 2 years I dont think you would ever get $20k for it.

Just my opinion since you asked for opinions.

Agreed with stl. 10k is a bit of a low ball but I would expect 15k at most.

2.5 years ago I bought an 00 base 5 speed in immaculate condition, loaded with options (no ims done though) with 27k miles and paid $12.5k. I ran like I stole it.

I'm also voting for $15K. The tiptronic is going to be a turn off for a lot of ppl. But that doesn't mean there isn't someone out there looking for one. Address any maintenance items so there aren't any issues and be willing to wait for the right customer.

Detail it to the 9s, take a lot of quality pics (not in a crowded garage), and advertise it on pca.org, rennlist, pelican, craigslist (Milw, Chi, Madison, etc), and FB. Realize you'll get a bunch of scammers on the last 2. Have a couple of places in mind for a PPI so you can give prospective buyers those options. Be willing to take it somewhere for a PPI, be willing to pick someone up from the airport if they fly in, or work with their shipper. These seem like simple things but not everyone does them and are necessary if you're asking top $$$.

I recently bought a '99 that is identical in color and wheels but with a 5-speed and 85K miles. It has a few minor dents (most of which you only notice in certain lights) but otherwise shows very well. The interior is above average with some noticeable wear on the seats and console. It appeared to be well maintained but it did not have the IMS bearing done.

I'm embarrassed to say that I paid $8K for it, which was too much given some of the minor issues with it. I have since addressed the IMS and the clutch, replaced some seals, and had it detailed. It now looks and runs great but it's probably only a $10K car, which means after the money spent on IMS, I paid way too much.

Yours had the IMS done, which adds value. But it's an automatic, which deducts value. Yours has fewer miles and sounds like it is in better cosmetic shape than mine. Given all that, I would agree with the $15K estimate. But to get that much, you will have to wait for the right buyer so don't expect it to sell in a day. Advertise it well and be patient.

Full disclosure: I am brand new to the Porsche scene and knew nothing about them when I bought mine. I'm basing my opinion on lessons learned from buying my car and watching them on BAT.

Edit: Mine does not have cruise control, which yours does. I have now come to understand how expensive it is to add cruise to it. But I really like cruise so I will probably be sinking more money into it soon. Yours already has it so that helps as well.

interested

I sent a pm yesterday and haven't gotten a response, but my son is interested in this car.

1. Still available?
2. Where is Enid, WI? Anywhere near Madison?

Please let me know here or respond to my pm.

Minus: base
Plus: '03 top, IMS done (with whose), cosmetic condition, miles, new tires. wheels
Uncertain: Tip (some will want it, some won't. I had people pleading to buy mine.)

All prices are local and negotiable. Place on Craigslist for $18k and see if you get any action. Only costs maybe $5. Sold many cars that way, never took any appreciable amount of my time beyond a trip to the bank and DMV.
