Advice on 4-post lift? For storage

Wife has a Z4. Boxster for me (obviously). I would like to store them in one garage stall on top of each other. Any advice on a 4-post lift or which brand? Which model? Information that may be helpful - I am a cheapskate. Thank you.

Personal opinion...there really isn't any difference between any of them. Get one in your budget but make sure your budget includes the shipping & install. Cheaper to pick up somewhere if you have a trailer. check out Greg Smith or www.bestbuyautoequipment.com

Check your local Craigslist , go to tools and type in 4 post lift . You should see plenty to choose from . Many will be local vendors and that's what you want , they can install and service in the future when needed .

A good 4 post will come with drip trays and wheel casters . Some will include trolley jack supports . Good luck with your search .

Thanks - plan on doing install myself (cheapskate, remember?) and I figure if I can do maintenance/service on a Porsche, then future service on a 4-post lift should be a piece of cake.

I wouldnt even bother doing the install. it isn't that it is difficult...it's HEAVY and you have to make sure everything is aligned correctly on a 4 post. They are easy to install but really, it's not that much and some might even install for free (fellow cheapskate so I know how you feel) What could tae you and 3 other friends 2 days to do the installers can knock it out in half a day....and you can watch and enjoy not having the back pain.

I have a older Bendpack with 9000# capacity. Its good. Better for storage, a bit annoying for suspension work.

Bendpack is top of the line for lifts?

That can be debated along the lines of which oil brand is better, tire brand, etc. Doesn't matter what brand it is, they are all mfg overseas. Bendpak does have one of the highest costs, but they are also one of the best when it comes to service.

Might want to ask over on Garage Journal for some opinions. For me service is the biggest priority, followed by price (total price...install, shipping, tax, electrical work, etc).

Bendpack (maybe others) have a jack option that slides on a rail so you can lift the car off its wheels while it is up if you have to get the wheels off. I think I would have to have this option if I had a 4 post. It allows it to double as more than just a storage rack.
