986 base front bumper

Has anyone tried fitting an 03-04 front bumper on an earlier 986? I have a 2000 base and came across this on amazon - I have a vision of coring out the entire center section, adding mesh to cover the hole, and then adding a lower lip to it. I have no idea if this would fit though. Thoughts?

A late S bumper will bolt right up to an early base model car.

Spec Boxster guys run them a lot. Theory being the late S bumper is a bit more aerodynamic.

Thanks Red! Have you seen any with lower lips on them? I wonder if maybe a gt3 cup would fit on there.

I've heard of guys using GT3 cup lips.
If I remember correctly it takes a bit of massaging to get it mounted so it looks good, but it didn't seem too hard.
You might want to dig around on eBay and see what's offered there.

It will fit but finding the vent slats and moldings will be difficult and might cost you more than the bumper cover

Most spb guys using the later style cover end up using just mesh.

I was thinking about covering the opening with something like this, along with a little bit of good ole duct tape and epoxy
