Steering wheel upgrade.. what you think

Thinking about upgrading my 986 sterring wheel..

refurbish...

what you think? a too drastic move from OEM.. worth the 250 USD upgrade?

And gear knob sleeve--

Alcantara looks great when it's new. Not so much if you drive a lot. Both my cars have Alcantara steering wheels & shift knobs & boots. The wheel & shifter in the CSS have wear spots because I drive w/o A/C on at the track and our events are generally during hot weather.

think you are right.. had same problem, now that I it think about it on my Cayman R..

So solution to have the very think steering wheel, and keep OEM look, and not worry about wear sports. Is to get it refurbished, and thickened.. cost is 150 USD..

Supposedly you can refurbish Alcantara with a brush and mild soapy water. I didn't try that and mine is probably too late to make a difference. Maybe if you keep at it early and often it will stay like new. Not trying to discourage you from doing it, just letting you know the downside of Alcantara. $150 sounds like a good deal. I paid $225 to have an upholsterer sew the leather I provided him on a 928 wheel.
