how often do you change gear oil?

i dont think my car has ever had that,is it time i should i have 13200 miles?

The car maual states every 60,000miles.

WOW, you have low mileage, Blkboxster! You may still want to do it based on time. Have you changed the coolant or brake fluid yet? You are due based on your car's model year.

Hi,

4-6 years or 60k mi. Gear Lube is actually better for your car if it's a little seasoned. When new, the additives are highly concentrated and can be harmful to soft metal internals such as synchros. After a few thousand miles, chemical changes in the fluid make it much more stable and friendly. If you're constantly changing it, you increase the number of miles or time that the tranny is working with fresh fluid.

Unlike the Motor Oil, the Tranny Fluid lives in a a closed system and as such doesn't need to be changed on as regular a basis because it doesn't oxidize or accumulate contaminates as easily. Hope this helps...
