Apple CarPlay turns your stereo into your iPhone when plugged in. I love it in my wife’s car,( alpine double din). Continues playing whatever you were listening to previously automatically, excellent phone connection. Only issue I’ve had is trying to adjust Siri’s voice level independently of the stereo music volume on the move in traffic using steering wheel controls in traffic while using google maps. I probably should have read the instructions...

Okay thanks man.......so you always need a running iPhone in the car to make it work correct?

I had heard there were considerable restrictions on software CarPlay could run. For instance:

Dashcommand
Navigation ; waze
Lap timers
Weather
The list goes on

Very disappointing

My Apple CarPlay experience is limited to a rental Toyota RAV4, but I recall Waze did work on it, except I didn't use it [Edit] for navigation. I was driving from Sacramento to Reno, and back, so it wasn't necessary for me to use Waze. I used Google Maps and Spotify throughout the road trip. :D

Edit: I believe the weather app did work (but I could be wrong.) I can't speak for the Porsche unit, unfortunately.
