Stupid question...

Is there any way to turn off the fasten seatbelt light ( except for the obvious answer "wear your seatbelt" ) ?

And please, no lectures on not wearing seatbelts. I know it is stupid, dangerous, and illegal...

Thanks,

Nick

But I will. It is just a circut that is completed by putting the tab in the slot. So try and get a needle and pierce the wire running from the (I don't know the name, but it is where you put the tab) and if you pierce the hot and the ground it should complete the connection and trick it into thinking its connected. Then just get some cutters and cut the ends off and wrap it in tape. I don't know if it will work but the logic is sound. BTW my real name is Jon Smith.

Thanks, bogg...

Do you know if the seatbelt and airbag are somehow linked to each other ?

I fear if I mess with the seatbelt then it would do something to the airbag.

( ex. airbag deploys differently if seatbelt is on or off )

I often wonder if since I don't wear a seatbelt the airbag would do more harm than good ?

I was hoping it was a simple fuse or something. Not sure if I want to be messing with the wires.

Anyway, thanks for the response !

Nick

the airbags should be always on. but its worth a try, just do it right down by the seat, no one would ever see it.

There's a "90 second ding"? Hmmmmm, never heard that. OH! you mean if you don't buckle your seat belt there's a ding?!? Really?!? Damn, I wonder if there's a "ding" if you are ejected at 100+ mph. Anyone?

you don't need to be driving 100 mph to be ejected from your car and kill someone else.

Friends of mine were killed going through an intersection. Another person ran the light at a very very high rate of speed, struck my friends' vehicle near the front end of their car which caused the car to spin viloently. Only the driver was wearing a seatbelt (not a scratch) and the others were all thrown from the car (VIA THE GLASS WINDOWS AND WINDSHIELD). One was thrown nearly a block from the impact zone.

Wearing a seatbelt is not just for you stay alive but to keep you from killing someone else. Something to think about.

Nick, just go to a junkyard or similar and get the metal "male" insert to trick the car into thinking the belt is joined. While the buckles are not "universal", I'm sure you'll be able to find one that works from another European vehicle (Vdub, Audi?).

While I don't think it's a good idea to go beltless, I'm equally sure that anything that I or another forum member types will not sway you on this issue, just as the influence that forum members have on each other's driving habits (read speeding) is minimal, at best.

We're all "big boys" on this forum, capable of making our own decisions; "right" or "wrong" though they may be. We're also well aware of the potential consequences of those decisions.
