But I was having trouble getting the deflector back in place. It didn't easily snap back into place, I had to press real hard on it, and I still don't think it's in the correct position. Shouldn't it pop back in easily?

Sometimes it can be a bit finicky to get back in, try moving the latches a little when reinserting.

I also remembered one way I cleaned the window - roof in service position and the glass up against the rollbar. Was already in the engine bay anyhow.
