code scanner
Can anyone recommend an inexpensive scan tool to use while the swap is on-going? I imagine I will need to clear codes repeatedly while looking for the right things to disconnect or hook back up again. I can borrow one from the local auto parts store but not long term and it would be convenient to have one on the shelf when needed.

#%&((&%#@@%&*(!!!!!!
Hi All
Made my first mistake I can't fix on my own. (Thought that might get your attention.) Moved parking brake crank assembly and got it all tidied up and workable. Same location but 2" forward from stock. Easy fit! Went to drop the body over the engine one final time and bolt it all in. Got the rear mounts in and went to the front only to discover the strange sound I had heard while lowering the lift was the drivers side cable getting caught on top of the head and stretching it out. Added about 3" of length and unraveled a bunch of housing. Found and ordered a used cable on the E-site. Should be here in a week. If that's my worst issue I'll be happy! Getting closer to an initial start every time I work on it. Next is wiring and fuel lines. Still moving along and hoping to have it motivating under it's own power in the spring. Cheers! |
Great to hear that it's going well!

immobilizer?
Hey Boxster Gurus
To remove the console and get access to the parking brake I took out the passenger seat. I've read lots of posts about the immobilizer under said seat getting wet and causing issues. There is nothing under the seat in mine, although there is a depression of sorts in the floor pan and a square hole in the carpet. No extra wires either. Is there an alternate location? Did some cars come without? 2001 S Thanks! |
Isn't the immobilizer under the driver's seat?

Another GM powered Boxster.
I'm right along with you on this. Except I'm going with a draw through 4.3 V6. Should make comparable power to your 6.0. Only thing is I don't have to guess how much of the rear firewall I have to cut... I've gotta cut a lot. I looked up the foam engine mockups and they are not cheap. Better off just sand casting a copy of your engine out of great stuff. ^in retrospect sand casting an engine doesn't sound like such a bad idea. At anyrate I'm gonna be watching this build. |
