2003/2004 top question

I have a OEM 2004 top on my 2002. Is been a great upgrade.
This spring the 4th bow just above the rear window isn't held tightly in place so there is some 'looseness' in that area. The top goes up and down fine but I'd like to get it back to how it was originally.
Has anyone else had this issue and how did they resolve it?
Does anyone have a picture or info on how the 2003/4 top frame looks without the fabric top so I can see what locates that 4th bow and what might be causing the issue?

Thanks for any help.

Do you have any photos of your issue? I’m having a hard time trying to imagine it.

I don't have pic now and it isn't very obvious, but I will try to get a pic that shows it.
Thanks!

Here is a pic showing how the 4th bow above the rear window is not held tight to the rear, so the top I a little loose in that area. I can reach back to it and move it forward and back.
I am hoping someone knows how the 4th bow is supposed to be held in place when the top is up.
Thanks for any help.

Your 4th bow is too far up. Mine sits about 2" from the top of the rear window glass.

Yes, the 4th bow is to far up/forward. Whatever is supposed to keep it farther back/tighter isn't working. I am hoping someone knows how the 4th bow is supposed to be held in place when the top is up.
Does anyone have a pic or sketch of a 2003/4 top frame without the top installed to show what is supposed to locate the 4th bow?

Well, the 4th bow being out of position finally caused a problem. I was opening the top a couple days ago and it started to bind and before I stopped it the red plastic end cap cracked, which they are supposed to do to protect the more costly parts. I have temporarily disconnected the top and clamshell from the top transmission until I can solve the problem.

Here is where I need some help from anyone with a 2003/2004 OEM top (4th bow/glass rear window). In trying to find what is no longer holding the 4th bow in place, I pulled back the headliner from just behind the drivers side window and found a strap attached to the 4th bow but no longer attached on the other end. I cannot tell where it used to be attached, and it is torn loose on the passenger side as well.

I will attach 2 pics showing the strap on the drivers side, the first is from farther out for orientation and the second is closer in with the headliner pulled toward the inside of the car to show the strap attached to the 4th bow but disconnected on the other end. I am hoping someone with a 2003/4 top can go out to their car and pull their headliner back and take a pic and tell me where this strap should be attached. Then I can figure out how to fix it (probably pulling the top and frame back off the car to access and reattach).
Thanks in advance for any help!!

Check out the post titled "roof liner"on 5/27 by nicecar. I think it deals with the straps your asking about.

Thanks for the suggestion and I'll check out the car again with those pics open but I think those might be something different. Nicecar has a 2002 so likely the 3 bow top with a plastic rear window and says his straps locate the headliner. I have retrofitted a 2004 OEM top/ frame with the 4th bow and glass rear window and I think the straps I'm asking about locate the 4th bow because it is loose and they are detached.

If someone with a 2003/4 OEM top can take a pic and tell me where these straps are attached, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

The shredded end of the strap in your picture attaches to frame at the base of the rear window. There is one strap on each side of the window that keeps the 4th bow in place. 986forum.com does not support picture uploads from my iPad. If you would like to see a picture of the the attachment point of the strap in question pm me with your email address or if you have a handle on rennlist.com I can send you a picture on that platform.
