Does anyone daily drive their Boxster on a regular basis?
My lease will be up soon and I'm contemplating waiting on the new 718T before I buy anything else.
I have a restored truck and my '99 986 as well. My thought is the 986 would be a great DD through approx winter 2019/Spring of 2020
What's your thoughts?

My Boxster is my DD, it's the only vehicle I own.

Daily driver
I live in Michigan and my 2003 is my daily driver from April to first snow, usually November or December, then she takes a 4-5 month nap.

98 Boxster is my daily driver but for the following reasons
1. I have a short commute to work. No freeway driving all back roads (I live in Bay Area and traffic is horrible)
2. Unless wife and I use the car on weekend I only drive Mon - Friday
3. I use a hard top in the winter and car cover in the summer
Mini Van is my weekend driver

I daily drove a 2000 S for 4 years.
Only reason I still don’t is wife wanted 4 seats
So I swapped it for a Cayenne TT which doubles as my tow vehicle

My daughter daily drives a '99 that has about 145k miles on it now. It's doing fine with regular maintenance.
Check out Retroman's posts. He did a lot more than 'daily driving':
Bought the Beater Boxster....
The hyper-daily-driver, one year later.

I daily drove my 01 S 6spd, for about a year and a 1/2. The traffic to work forced me to get an electric car with an automatic. If the clutch wasn’t so stiff, I would drive it in traffic. Should have gotten one with at tiptronic.

If the car is in good condition why not use it? It won’t rust up over a few winter months of daily drivning. Just keep the car clean. I drove my 550 SE over a mild winter here in northern Europe. I even planed of buying winter tires. If I had to drive the car every day during a winter I would. But then I would use winter tires. Otherwise I would not rekommend drivning any car in winter conditions. I parked the Boxster during snowy days that winter. The Boxster is dangerous at the limit. Tires makes all the difference.
Good luck whatever you choose to do.

I use my '03S as a daily driver. I have a 20ish mile commute each way. When the weather is nice, I put the top down, which makes the commute even better.

Drove mine daily to work, for errands and for fun. Wife always knew sending me for pizza was going to be a little longer than she going, I didn't exactly take the express route, more like the fun curves. Same true of work to home every day.

Im living in a topsy turvy world as my mint SY 2000 Boxster S that should be a weekend car sits on the drive from Friday to Monday.
Monday to Friday it does 2 miles to work and 2 miles back in a max speed zone of 40 mph with cameras. So the car rarely goes above that speed.... seriously.... no seriously.
Having two young children means we are in the Passat at the weekends.
Its a real pity as I never really get to drive the Boxster with the gearbox fully up to tempature when 2nd gear because as easy as 4th lol.

Whenever the weather is nice and I can go "top-down," I drive. Oh wait, I'm in North Florida, it's that way most of the time! I leave for work at 0530 M-F and have a 32 mi commute. If I had hair, I would enjoy the breeze blowing through it.

I DD mine year around for the last 3 years. Dedicated snow tires and a hardtop through winter, 6-mile commute to work is a bit too short to get the engine fully warmed up but by the half way I get decent heat, car is very capable and tons of fun!

Yes, all year! On the rare occasion we get some snow, it sits in the garage for a few days.

I DD my first Boxster for 3+ years including a 40 mile one-way daily commute. It was a wonderful car to drive on the road and most days I would put the top down for the drive home and it was really relaxing and stress-relieving.

Plus, if you put the pizza in the trunk, it stays warm. But if the cheese is all on one side, or bunched up, she will know what you’re up to.

Hopefully you get to drive it long enough to warm up the oil to help remove the moisture

This gives me hope
A possible promotion has us moving and I don't want to be forced to buy a car right away.
