2nd motor dead, may sell as a roller/project
My 03's base replacement engine (an 06) died - not an IMS failure, but looks like the cams on one bank are way out.
I am not going to put any more money into this 03 base. I will probably be selling the car as a project/parts car if I can't find a local buyer (shop is looking locally now). I really liked the car, but just can't justify the $$$ to replace again. |
Where's it located?

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Safe travels.

Sorry to hear of this. I think that we all feel your pain. Kind of like a swift kick to the testicles. I'm on engine #5 so I'm starting to get used to the feeling but I completely understand why you're not willing to go through it again.

I agree, number 5??? HOLY CRAP! Do you track or race your car? Give us a history of what happened and why?

That doesn't sound like it's fatal to me? Is there carnage inside the motor?

Woody - one of the cam banks are not turning at all according to the shop.
Minimum labor cost best case would be a 2k. Since I don't have a lift, motor/transmission stands, or have any experience with motors I don't have the ability to do it myself. I was overcharged for a cooling issue in Seattle on this trip, and can no longer sustain the cost of keeping it running. It cost me over 2k to get the dang thing home between the cooling issue, rental car, 2 different shops diagnosis, and towing it back. FWIW AAA Premier is worth every penny. Local towing was covered in Seattle and Boise, both by operators who knew how to actually tow these correctly. Your help over the years has been greatly appreciated! |
Did you find a buyer?
