I dunno about that. I went to Porsche's site and checked out a silver 718 Boxster.
Get one of those Joe Toth gen 2 duck tail spoilers for the 2003 and 2004 Boxster and add in the PORSCHE lettering.
I think that would look pretty sweet.

My opinion is based on the pictures in this thread. They look out of place on silver and white...too dark.
They should offer lighter versions. Maybe aluminum finish (not chrome).
Looks great on black, though.

I think they look pretty killer, but almost $700?? . Plus I remember the $1000 headlights that burn out in six months with no way to replace most of the bulbs. I think i'll wait for Fred to build something if he ever comes back.

I agree that there is too much area between the lights on lighter colored cars, but break up that area with the duck tail spoiler fixes that issue for me. I'd paint the top of the spoiler silver to match my car's paint, but leave the backside black.

Yeah, I'm with you. Frankly, I bought my car for the way it looks, not despite, the way it looks.
But, to each their own

Yes, I agree with particlewave, a lighter colored version would have been nice (silver trimmed, with a dark grey inner color). But I am quite confident, that the black ones will look almost as nice. At least the black trim could be painted to match the car color. Now I just need those head lights for the 986...

I think these 718 style taillights look great on my black 986 with the Joe Toth ducktail spoiler and the GT3Tek diffuser (etc. too many mods to list ). They really made more of a difference than I expected, but everyone has different taste... that's what keeps thing interesting. I have thought about the new style PORSCHE lettering on the back of the spoiler (not sure it would fit) but I like the clean/de-badged look.
To those that have bought these lights, do you have a small molding defect in the left side taillight on the top of the silver upper left brake light extension? I didn't even notice it first and I am not sure it bothers me enough to do a return/replacement... just wondering if others have seen it also. I don't have a pic, but you'll see it if it's there.

Your car looks great! Do you happen to have a straight on rear view picture you could post? One like this, but lower and not tilted?

I have one, although my car isn't black.

I already have that picture. I'm looking for a picture of a car that has the duck tail spoiler on the car that isn't tilted like the picture I posted. They view in that picture is exactly what I am looking for, just need the duck tail spoiler in the picture.

KRAM36, here you go.
MichaelV, glad to see I'm not the only one with snow in the background, we're supposed to get 8+" by Friday. I like the change of seasons, but it is spring already!

You rock, that's exactly what I'm looking for!
Thank you!

A quick shot of them in combination with Seal Grey. I personally would like a silverish frame better, but they still look awesome. Compared to the old tail lights, which give the Boxster a "round" and "smooth" old-school appearance, these new 718 style tail lights do indeed change the rear a lot...and not in a bad way.
Quality check:
Perfect fit --> OEM 4mm gaps possible \/ check
Cracks --> absolute flawless, I only saw two rougher Inch long areas, where they brake the plastic molds...not noticeable and can be easily cured \/ check
Functionalty --> good visiblity at day time, including the blinkers \/ check
Parking Lights --> the long light bar, not the little corner piece \/ check
Fog Lights --> Just one, left side corner light, brightness...uhm… = could be better
Btw, I have those cable adaptors, too. I came to the conclusion, that they are not needed for extension or wrong wiring...but for LHD and RHD determination...I am pretty sure that UK etc will have different one for the right fog light to light up. So, if we could get a UK Version cable extension for the right tail light, the 2nd fog light might light up as well. JUST A THEORY.
Business opportunity: Frame-foils in Porsche OEM colors

Hey guys,
I just ordered mine.
But a quick question.
I heard somewhere, but it could have been regarding other assembly, that there is a turn signal hyper flash issue.
Then I read those are direct plug in - so which one is it?
Also, your take on light intensity vs OEM?

No hyper flashing issues.
Light output is way lower than stock. At least on the smoked version.
Was completely plug and play though.
My only issue was the bolts aren't long enough to reattach the plastic carpet washers in the trunk.
But so far happy.

Thanks for the quick response.
I ordered clear ones. Smoked, although the car is black, did not "talk" to me.
I hope the light intensity will be better... but this is what I was afraid of - too little light vs stock taillights.
We will see.

On the smoked lights (and yes it's black on black, tinted windows and smoked LED side markers and third brake light) I would say that it's adequate for driving but not much more.
I would very seriously doubt that you could pass inspection with them in any state that takes lights seriously.
But they do look good, and all my lights were shot. Both housings, gaskets and bulb carriers.
So I had to buy completely new lights and this seemed like the best option.
No regrets so far.
But yeah. They are kinda dim.
