ROW suspension education please
 

I see lots of reference to ROW (rest of world) suspension, I have no clue how it is different from what came on my 00 S. This may be a clueless question to some, however I would like to me educated!

US damper/spring set up is different to UK and Europe. You have standard and factory sport or M030. Europe cars are a touch lower.

Your car could have had 030 Sport Chassis with more rigidly tuned springs & shocks, spring plates (front & rear) which is about half way to ROW. But no, just a plain S model.

I still do not understand the net change between them

It's my understanding that the ROW (Rest Of World) sport suspension is much stiffer than the North American market cars.

When I rebuilt my suspension, I installed ROW M030 sport springs, and they are much stiffer than the base springs.

My car is a Japanese import (LH drive and ROW) and has M030. I can't say what is different from US M030 because I have never driven one but it is low and has a somewhat stiff ride.

The ROW suspension sits lower.

USA M030 is awesome, and the bonus is you won’t be scraping every driveway and parking spot bump stop.

The ROW M030 is 15-20 mm lower than the USA. If you look in the manual, it lists the ride heights

So I have the standard S, what parts would one swap to get to the M030?

I bought the ROW M030 kit from Suncoast Porsche in late 2016. This picture shows the list of parts that were in the kit and the part numbers. Porsche periodically updates parts and then there are superceded part numbers. When I put the list together, I saw that a couple of part numbers had already been superceded. To get to ROW M030 you would change springs, struts, sway bars and sway bar bushings. I think it would be the same to get to US M030 as well, springs would still be stiffer but not lower the car. The rear sway bar on an S model may be the same regardless of standard or M030 suspension, I'm not sure on that.

What is the difference between the ROW MO30 vs USA M030? Spring may be suspension time and I'm looking at options.

The differences between M030 and "regular" suspension are that the M030 has stiffer sway bars (and different sway bar bushings to account for the different bar diameters), and stiffer springs and firmer struts.

The difference between USA M030 and ROW (rest of world) M030 are that the ROW springs are a little shorter and give a moderately lower ride height. I don't know for sure what the other exact differences are besides the heights.

The M030 "S" rear sway bar ia slightly softer than the "non S" ROW rear sway bar, and both are stiffer than the standard rear sway bar. More info on sway bar stiffness here:

The standard rear Cayman sway bar is about equal in stiffness to the non-S M030 rear swaybar and those are usually pretty cheap from dismantlers if someone wanted an extra option to try out a little bit of a stiffer rear bar.

and you can go aftermarket on shocks and springs to simulate m030; H&R make an inexpensive lowering spring, and our cars come with bilstein HD shocks; m030 uses the bilstein sport.
