Windshield Chip Repair

I recently purchased my Boxster and it appears that the previous owner had repaired a chip in the windshield and before it had fully cured turned on the wipers. There is now a streak across the windshield that I have-not been able to clean. Any thoughts on how that can be removed? Solvent? Can it be buffed out?

Thanks!

Have you tried using a razor blade? I would use some soapy water as a lubricant and see that takes it off, I would be very careful about using any heavy duty solvents near your paint, and buffing glass takes forever. Good luck!

yes, I should have mentioned that was the first thing i tried and it had no effect.

Maybe buffing it with a cerium oxide paste? See this thread.

I have used Mothers Water Spot Remover and been very pleased with the outcome. A brand new single edge razor to shave the high spots followed with polishing compound should do the trick.
