Hi Guys what do you think?
I have been looking at boxsters for a while looking at different options while I try to save up.
I will not be tracking my car when I finally get it, just driving aggressively on windy B roads

What do you think would be a better option on a 2.7 387 (sorry it's not about a 386)?
Both have similar mileage and price. One has sports setting as well as sports chrono while the other has sports setting and a 6 speed manual gearbox.
Which do you think would be a better choice all other things being equal, and why?

Still dreaming of the day when I have my boxster.

6 speed. Sport chrono is gimmick

Are you sure the 6 speed is a 2.7 and not a 3.2 S? 2.7s didn't come with 6 speed gearboxes.

987 versus 986?

The 987 tip with sports chrono gets re-mapped throttle (gimmick) plus re-mapped shift points which do improve acceleration (slightly).

Regardless, get the manual.

What year cars are we talking about? If it's a Tiptronic Sport Chrono you get a pretty nice auto trans but IMO it is no match for a 6 spd. If it is 2009 or later with PDK Sport Chrono, now you have a very significant decision to make. The 6 spd is still good. The PDK is also very good.

If you are not tracking your future Boxster, you do not need Sport Chrono. It would not be effective for just driving on winding roads.

Please let us know what model years you're looking at. That will help us give you a better answer. I believe a 6spd was available on late 987.1 base models and may have been std on the 987.2 base manual.

Our 2009 S w PDK is really an amazing vehicle to drive. Who needs a clutch anyway?

Me too. The DCS transmission in our S5 is fantastic. No way a typical human can shift a manual clutch non sequential transmission that quickly.

It's a 2005 2.7 L boxster.
I believe the 6 speed was an option.
