Brake Job question

I just replaced my front rotors, pads, dampers and wear sensors. I didn't take it out to bed the pads yet but I did have to move it and took a quick trip around my neighborhood.

Is it normal to hear what sounds like metal on metal or some kind of grind when applying the brakes for the first time before bedding them in? While each side was in the air I spun the wheels and the rotors/pads moved freely so I think everything was done correctly. This is the first time I have ever replaced pads or rotors so I was curious.

Thanks in advance.
