Pieces of foam coming out of my vents

Can anyone tell me why pieces of black foam are coming out of my air vents?

The diverter doors are covered in foam . From what Ive seen The door is a thin metal frame covered with foam over time the material disintegrates and get blown through the vents .

There are as many threads on this subject as there are on the IMS bearing and on the choice of oil.

Your IMS is failing, and as it’s made of foam, it is blowing out the vents.

I believe the new guy has passed the initiation test!

The IMS failure was funny though!

Funny, it seemed normal to me. I was like "Oh it's an old German car. Been HERE before." My S6 used to do it too.
