Is the PCNA VIN build sheet decoder dead for us?

One of my many time wasters was to use this link when I saw an interesting Porsche for sale that included the VIN in the ad. I haven't used it in a few weeks and then tried today. Now all I get is the Porsche dealer locator map. If you click on the link, you'll see what I'm taking about. If you put in your actual VIN, you'll get the same thing even if you used to get the build sheet. Has anyone else noticed this? Oh well, it was good while it lasted!

Porsche has a habit of reorganizing things making links into its site dicey. I used to link directly to the PET, now I'm lucky if three levels up is still the same.

Someone on Planet-9 was asking the same question, so it's not just you.

Try starting over from scratch by typing the URL in a new browser without the s in the http part. That’s what I had to do on a PC

Here is another way to get it to work:
BTW, I added " " around the URL's so the forum software doesn't convert them to a hyperlink. Ignore / delete them in your work area.

Here is the actual link from PaulE's first post:

Copy this to a text editor of some sort. Delete the "S" from https.

Now, substitute your real VIN for the placeholder "WP0xxxxxxxxxxxx"

Copy and paste the revised URL into your browser. I tested this on Firefox, Edge and IE.

 HTH

Works on my iPad and iMac using Safari on both. Used to work with 'https' in place but now only works with 'http'

I have never been able to get this to work with my VIN, I get a note saying, "This vehicle is not available." Anyone else get this error?

In my own experience, there are some cars that it just doesn't work for. It works for my own 2003 Boxster S. I get that same "This vehicle is not available" message when I use the VIN from my friend's 1999 base Boxster. I have also gotten that message for newer year Porsches using the VINs that were shown in various eBay and Craigslist ads. It's possible that those VINs were incorrect somehow, but they looked like good 17 digit VINs. I think there are just some cars that for whatever reason, are not included in this database.

Think the decoder has been broken for several wks now.
How's a Wheeler Dealer to know what options a car has?

Yes, the PCNA link has been “temporarily down for maintenance” for a very long time. Team Oxford’s link has not been working reliably for me for a while either, so I’m going to give this new one a go, thanks!
