Jumpering Relays

Hi, I'm trying to drain my fuel tank of old fuel and am trying to do the jumpered relay for the fuel pump trick as detailed on pellican. does the jumper have to be a certain gauge of wire to work? I can't seem to get it to work with random bits of wire that I have lying about and am wondering if that's my issue.

You obviously don't want to use a tiny wire, but it doesn't need to be huge, either.
You're most likely not hitting the contacts in the socket. Use proper sized spades.

and when you are done with it, pull your fog light relay out and put the jumper in place instead - allows you to turn on fog lights while high beams are on.

Or put it in the clutch starter relay so you don't need to depress the clutch to start the car. You still should, but when the relay fails at least your car will still start.

I keep a jumper wire in the glove box for just such an occasion.
