I added the 987 rear speaker with subwoofer to my 2000 Boxster S
Fairly easy setup. Run power, RCA cable, speaker wires, and amp turn on signal to the area.
Much improved sound over just the front speakers.

It fits just like the 986 version, and secures to the rear deck the same way.

cool. any idea what the quality/volume would be if you just ran with the rear unit and no door or dash speakers?

It could work for any 986. I don't have Bose.

Has this unit an integrated amp?
If yes, how will get the MOST bus signal to the amp?

i have the stereo gutted out of my car (weight reduction you know!) but it would be cool if i could stuff a small bluetooth amp into the rear speaker unit, run some switched power back to it, and drive it from my iphone - a stereo system that i could pull out of the car when at the track. not sure i would get enough usable volume out of it, however.
and, i have the 987 engine cover, so was uncertain whether to use the 986 or 987 rear speaker unit, as didn't know if they would fit with the cover/roll bar; good info to know.

I looked at ripping out the MOST system and all the associated stuff. In the end I bought a Bose Mini Soundlink II. Cheaper than a head unit. No wiring, 10 hrs battery and sounds great. Also goes into the garden, work and anywhere else.

Perfect for cruising. If going for a proper burn I prefer the flat six sound track screaming to the redline so it gets thrown in the glovebox then.

I contacted pdwight about making a harness to make this mod plug and play. He didn't think too many would be interested. Let him know if you are.

Oh I'm not, I would be if I didn't have a crazy system for my car. But it is pretty awesome.

Hi,
Just read your post on addiing the Bose sub shelf to the system. I just purchased one my self and would like to hook it up to a aftermarket Clarion head unit in my 987 Boxster.
Would you be able to explain me the meaning of the wires ( colour codes ) which are connected to the subwofer build in AMP. Ihave
Would be much appreciated.
Thx in advance.
Thomas
